J-O-Y Player IDs

Every player gets a unique ID based on their skill level. This helps create fair and fun matchups.

J — Competitive

Tournament-level players with 3+ years experience. They play to win and know advanced techniques.

O — Recreational

Regular players who know the rules well. Play for fun but also enjoy some competition.

Y — Social

Beginners or casual players. Here for the fun and social experience, still learning the game.

How IDs Work

Your ID combines your skill level (J, O, or Y) with a number. For example:

Skill Can Change!

Directors can adjust your skill level based on your performance. Win consistently against higher-skilled players? You might get upgraded. Struggling? No shame in moving to a more comfortable level.

Team Sports: P-Numbers

For team sports like cricket and soccer, players use simple P-numbers (P1, P2, P3...) since skill-based matchmaking isn't applied at the individual level.

Game Formats

Singles vs Doubles

Format Players per Match Example
Singles 2 (1v1) J1 vs O2
Doubles 4 (2v2) J1 + Y2 vs O1 + O3

Pure Skill vs Mixed Skill

For doubles matches, directors can choose how to pair players:

Pure Skill

Same skill levels paired together:

  • J + J vs J + J
  • O + O vs O + O
  • Y + Y vs Y + Y

Best for: Competitive events, tournaments

Mixed Skill

Balance teams with high + low skill:

  • J + Y vs J + Y
  • O + O vs O + O
  • Balanced matchups

Best for: Social events, friendly bashes

Doubles Format, Solo Winners

Even in doubles, each player earns their own points. Partners rotate every round, so your final score reflects YOUR performance across all games — not just your team's.

Scoring & Leaderboard

Default Point System

Result Points Description
Win 2 points Your team wins the match
Loss 1 point Your team loses (but you played!)
Rest 0 points Sitting out this round

Directors can customize these point values. Some events give 0 points for losses to encourage winning.

Leaderboard

The leaderboard ranks players by total points, then by number of wins. It updates in real-time as matches are scored.

Play More, Score More

Since you earn points for both wins AND losses, the more you play, the higher you climb. Sitting out means missing points!
